Speaking at the ministry’s regular press conference, held online on Thursday, Hang said Vietnam will also step up the research and transfer of vaccine production technology, towards maximizing vaccination coverage.
The spokeswoman went on to say that Vietnam has early identified a free vaccination target for all to have COVID-19 immunization in the community, considering it a fundamental solution to push back the pandemic.
The inauguration of a COVID-19 vaccine fund has received voluntary support from individuals and organizations at home and abroad in this common fight against the coronavirus.
“The vaccine fund has received and administered donation, voluntary contribution in cash and vaccines from individuals and organizations at home and abroad as well as other legitimate sources to provide vaccines to the public. It has received voluntary support from various individuals and organizations locally and several overseas businesses. The Party and State treasure this contribution no matter large or small and committed transparent management, supervision and utility of the fund in line with its mandate and the law to ensure public health, stabilize business operation, including FDI businesses,” said Hang.
She welcomed the US scheme to share half a billion doses of Covid-19 vaccines globally, in which Vietnam is a beneficiary.
Vietnam has received 2.6 million doses from the Covax Facility while commitment from pharmaceutical companies and international partners would ensure sufficient vaccines for the people, according to Hang.
