(VNA)- The Vietnamese Government has promulgated a decree regulating the operation of foreign military ships arriving and departing from Vietnam. Foreign military ships passing through Vietnam’s territorial waters must obtain permission from the state and obey Vietnamese laws. During the ship’s stay in Vietnam, crewmembers should follow approved action programs. Any changes to the program must be approved by the authorities. Vessels are required to fly the national flag of Vietnam at a position equal to the position of the ship’s home country flag. The decree defines regulations for vessels that anchor off the coast of Vietnam and procedures for entering or leaving the country or changing port. In addition, the document lists prohibited activities foreign military ships must avoid in Vietnam.
