Vietnam, Singapore to upgrade relations to comprehensive strategic partnership at appropriate time
(VOVWORLD) - Singapore has always been one of the most important economic partners of Vietnam in the region, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at Friday’s reception in Hanoi for visiting Singaporean Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, Teo Chee Hean.

To jointly create a firm foundation for upgrading the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership at an appropriate time, Prime Minister Chinh proposed that the two sides maintain high-level exchanges and contacts across all channels.
Focus should also be placed on implementing the green-digital economy partnership, promoting cooperation in new growth areas such as digital transformation, clean energy, carbon credit trading, and especially cooperation in the application of electronic identification and building Vietnam’s National Data Center.
Minister Hean said that Singapore will continue to cooperate, support, and share its experiences with Vietnam in the areas the Prime Minister mentioned.
He noted that Singapore will soon sign an agreement with Vietnam on pilot implementation of several specific projects that fall under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement on carbon credits between the two countries.
