(VOV) - The political, economic and cultural ties between Vietnam and Spain should be promoted to make the most of cooperation opportunities.
Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the proposal at a working session with Secretary of State for Trade Jaime Garcia Legaz and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Gonzalo de Benito during her recent visit to Spain.
She thanked Spain for supporting Vietnam at international forums and asked the European Union nation to prioritise relations with Vietnam within ASEAN.
Jaime Garcia Legaz said that Spanish businesses feel satisfaction with their operations in Vietnam thanks to the government’s simplified investment procedures.
He said Spain wants to make a breakthrough in joint project implementation, boost cooperation with Vietnam in technology and expertise transfer, and foster links with Vietnamese small and medium businesses.
On September 10, Ngan held a working session with leaders of the parliament and administration of Andalucia region and Seville city to inquire into the authority decentralisation model there.
Hosts acknowledged Vietnam’s impressive development achievements in recent times and hoped to boost cooperation with Vietnamese localities.
While staying in Spain from September 7-11, Ngan visited the Vietnamese embassy in Madrid where she asked the ambassador and staff to work harder to strengthen friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
