Vietnam, Thailand step up trade cooperation
(VOVworld) – Thailand is Vietnam’s 10th biggest foreign investor with 270 projects and a total investment capital of 6.6 billion USD. In 2014, two-way trade turnover reached 10 billion USD. Vietnam mainly exports machinery, steel and mobile phones to Thailand, and imports material and spare parts for production. According to Thai enterprises, Vietnam is a big market with a population of 90 million with a stable political context, a developed economy and low labor costs.
In recent years, scores of Thai enterprises have come to Vietnam to seek business opportunities. At a Vietnam-Thailand Business Forum on Wednesday in Ho Chi Minh city, Nguyen The Hung, deputy general director of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), said: “Thai enterprises have a great chance to develop and receive great support from the government. Vietnam can learn a lot while working with enterprises from Thailand”.
