Vietnam will now meet Curacao in Saturday’s final while the Thais have to settle for a third-place playoff against India.
Vietnamese football fans are confident their national team will win this year’s King’s Cup.
“I am very happy and proud of the team. They played with fierce determination,” said a football fan.
“I was surprised by the last-minute goal by player Anh Duc as I thought there would be a penalty shoot-out,” said a football fan.
“I was overwhelmed by Anh Duc’s goal in the 94th minute. It has been a long time since we beat host Thailand. What an honor!", a football fan told VOV.
The King's Cup is a friendly tournament but its results can determine the ranking of teams within the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
