Under the 2-year pilot program which will end next February, nationals of 46 countries are able to apply for a 30-day single-entry e-visa. The eligible countries include China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the US, the UK, Germany and Sweden, all major target markets for Vietnam’s tourism sector.
Under a government directive, it will take three working days for tourists to find out if their applications have been approved or not. Successful applicants will be able to print off their e-visas to present when they arrive. Vietnam welcomed more than 11.6 million foreign visitors in the past 9 months, up 23% over the same period last year.
