(VOVWORLD) - On Saturday, the US Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) organized a seminar to review the 10 years of comprehensive partnership and prospects of the Vietnam-US comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.

In his address, VUFO President Dr. Phan Anh Son said September 10, 2023 marked an important milestone, opening a new period for the Vietnam-US ties with the two countries establishing the comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
He added that the conference is expected to give Vietnam and the US the opportunity to review the bilateral relationships over the past years.
"We’ll discuss the accomplishments we have attained, the elements that foster the relationship, including the significant role of people to people exchanges. We’ll discuss the challenges and limitations as well as valuable lessons. We will also explore the significance of a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, not only for the two peoples, but also for contributing to global peace, stability, cooperation, and prosperity,” said Son.

US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper said, “We had the goal, as we publicly stated, of getting an upgrade in our relationship. We firmly believe that this relationship deserved to become a strategic partnership, because we believe that it was a reflection of where two countries, frankly, already were. In terms of the efforts we shared, the activities we did together, our cooperation, our collaboration, our shared goals, our interests, we're already strategic in nature.”
Participants at the seminar presented the development milestones in the bilateral relations which are constantly being strengthened and expanded for the benefit of the two peoples.

On this occasion, a US-Vietnam Friendship Festival was held at the historic Imperial Thang Long Citadel featuring traditional American and Vietnamese games, arts and crafts, sports, and STEM activities.
A wide variety of booths will showcase information about bilateral cooperation in health, environment, education, business, and culture.
The festival will also feature musical performances by local schools and universities, singing and dancing exhibitions by American volunteers, and demonstrations of American and Vietnamese culture.
