(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with President of the Uzbekistan Senate Tanzila Narbaeva on Saturday afternoon at the National Assembly Building of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, the two leaders emphasized the importance of further strengthening the Vietnam-Uzbekistan cooperation across all areas and channels including the Party, the State, parliamentary, and people-to-people exchanges, and enhance collaboration and the exchange of experiences between specialized committees and parliamentary friendship groups. The two sides will enhance cooperation in overseeing and promoting the implementation of cooperation agreements signed by the two governments and pledge continued mutual support in expanding ties with regional parliaments.
Recognizing the untapped potential in bilateral economic and trade relations, the two leaders agreed to boost information exchange on policies and markets, and to create favorable conditions for businesses from both countries to engage in investment and trade promotion activities. They also highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation in energy, oil and gas—sectors in which both nations have strong potential and mutual demand.
The leaders affirmed the significance of cooperation in agriculture, textiles, healthcare, culture, tourism, education and training, transportation, local partnerships, and people-to-people exchanges as key areas to deepen bilateral ties.
The two sides also agreed to reinforce coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, including the United Nations and other international organizations of which both countries are members. Chairman Tran Thanh Man reaffirmed Vietnam’s readiness to serve as a bridge for Uzbekistan to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN, AIPA, and member parliaments.
He also called on Uzbekistan to support ASEAN and Vietnam’s stance on peacefully resolving disputes in the East Sea in accordance with international law.
Following the talks, Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Senate President Tanzila Narbaeva signed a Cooperation Agreement between the two parliaments.
