At a meeting with ministries and sectors on Monday evening, PM Chinh asked ministries, sectors, and agencies to quickly complete documents for a working delegation to the US to discuss the development of balanced and sustainable bilateral trade.

He asked the delegation to propose the US consider postponing the imposition of the new tariff policy for at least 45 days so that the two sides have more time to discuss and prepare for status transition. Negotiations should target balanced and sustainable trade that benefits both sides, including their consumers, and international commitments.

It’s important to focus on credit packages to support businesses in the seafood, textile, footwear, and wood processing industries. Credit support for the seafood sector should be expanded, and preferential credit packages for other export items should also be considered. Additional measures could include extending or deferring interest payments for sectors affected by tariffs, postponing land lease tax payments for struggling businesses, expediting VAT refunds, and streamlining administrative procedures. More efforts should be made to study and propose tax reductions to relevant authorities, starting with value-added tax," said the Prime Minister.

Mr. Chinh emphasized that Vietnam is ready to engage in discussions with the United States to reduce import tariffs on US goods to 0%, focusing on solutions to boost trade in products where the US has strengths and Vietnam has demand.
