Vietnam values cooperation among nations in Mekong River basin
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam always attaches importance to friendly cooperation among countries in the Mekong River basin and highly values the role of the Mekong River Commission (MRC), Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet said Tuesday at a reception in Hanoi for the CEO of the MRC Secretariat.

Mr. Viet said the MRC and the 1995 Agreement on “Cooperation for the Sustainable Development of the Mekong River Basin” have greatly contributed to the area’s stability and sustainable growth.
He said Vietnam will continue to participate in and contribute to the Commission’s cooperation activities.
Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun, who will be CEO of the MRC Secretariat until 2024, praised Vietnam’s active, responsible, and effective contributions to the Secretariat’s efforts.
