Vietnam welcomes Cuba-US relations normalization
(VOVworld) – Vietnam welcomes the announcement of Cuban President Raul Castro and US President Obama to normalize diplomatic relations for the first time after more than half a century, said Foreign Ministry’s deputy spokesperson Pham Thu Hang at a regular press briefing on Thursday in Hanoi. She added Vietnam believes this historic announcement will be the first step of a full normalization of diplomatic ties between Cuba and the United States, contributing to maintaining peace and stability, and enhancing cooperation in the Latin-America and the world at large.

Answering reporters’ questions regarding Vietnam’s response to the recent hostage in Sydney, Australia, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said Vietnam denounces any violent actions that cause gut wrenching losses for the Australian people, especially families of the innocent victims.
She also briefed reporters of Vietnam’s external activities in the coming time.
