Chairwoman Ngan said that this year Vietnam has undertaken three important responsibilities: Non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Chair of ASEAN and Chair of AIPA. She said 2020 also witnessed Party Congresses at all levels taking place in the lead-up to the 13th National Party Congress.
Despite the huge workload and the severe impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic and natural disasters, Vietnam has successfully completed all three responsibilities, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's reputation and position worldwide, according to Chairwoman Ngan.
She said that during the past 25 years, the National Assembly of Vietnam has made significant contributions to the consolidation and improvement of the AIPA apparatus and organization. The success of the AIPA Chair Year and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly is a continuation of Vietnam’s contributions to AIPA development.
During the 14th National Assembly, in addition to the successful organization of the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-26), the results of the 2020 AIPA Chair have highlighted parliamentary diplomacy, contributing to the overall success of Vietnam’s foreign policy.
