(VOVWORLD) - Captain Huynh Nhu of the Vietnam women's football team said that her and her teammates are still optimistic after losing 0-2 to New Zealand, the co-hosts of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, in a friendly at McLean Park Stadium in New Zealand Monday.

In an interview after the match, captain Nhu said they just arrived in New Zealand where the big difference in temperature affected the whole team.
The friendly match with New Zealand is an opportunity for them to adapt and get used to the weather as well as the pace of competition before World Cup 2023.
Vietnam will have a friendly match with Spain on July 14.
