(VOVWORLD) -6,000 people are expected to return to Vietnam from epidemic countries on Wednesday, according to the national steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control.

At a meeting of the committee to discuss quarantine measures for new arrivals on Wednesday, the Defense Ministry said it has prepared 44,000 places for quarantine and another 20,000 in reserve if necessary.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said: “We need to continue communications with other countries to prevent disease penetration into Vietnam. There are many foreigners not undergoing 14 days of quarantine and many of them coming from epidemic stricken countries. We should uphold our all-out effort to ensure early detection of positive cases for timely isolation and medical support.”
Mr. Dam called for early classification of the elderly, those with underlying health conditions and people with disabilities for regular health check.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized on 5 objectives of no rapid transmission, no transmission to medical staff, no community transmission, no panic, and foreign and domestic relations harmonization.
