The Vietnamese delegation led by Director Nguyen Quang Hung informed the EU side Vietnam's progress in implementing the EC’s recommendations, managing catching volume and fishing vessels on the sea, entering, and leaving the port, implementing the Fisheries Resource Exploitation and Protection, and carrying out traceability work to ensure that shipments to the European market are legal.
Mr. Hung said that the EC agreed with Vietnam’s report on achievements and solutions. It recommended Vietnam to take stronger measures to prevent illegal exploitation, put an end to the situation of fishing vessels violating foreign waters, strictly handle fishing vessels that disconnect the tracking devices and those lose connection for more than 10 days on the sea.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and DG-MARE are expected to hold an online dialogue in September to update the progress of implementing recommendations before the EC inspection team comes to Vietnam in October.
