Vietnam-Africa trade forum
(VOVworld) – A forum of “South-South Development Partnership in processed agricultural products” opened in Ho Chi Minh city on Thursday. It’s part of the Vietnam-Africa Business Forum 2014, which aims to create favorable business conditions for Vietnamese companies and Central and West African partners. Business people from each region exchanged experience and sought partners in importing and exporting rice, cashew nuts, wood, construction materials, canned and processed vegetables and fruits, and agricultural machines.
Many delegates said Africa is in the best economic development period and has maintained a steady high growth rate amidst global economic turbulance. Nguyen Ngoc Thang, Vice Director of the External Relations Department of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, VCCI, said:
"Africa is a lucrative market. The government agencies will support companies who want to develop business with African partners. This is Vietnam’s strategic orientation. VCCI pledges to assist Vietnamese companies to find suitable partners and provide them with legal advise to penetrate the market."
Trade relations between Vietnamese and African businesses have progressed favorably in recent years. The annual trade turnover from 2004 to 2013 reached an average of 5 billion USD. Vietnam signed trade cooperation agreements with 25 of the 55 African countries.
