Acting General Secretary of the National Council of Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodian Motherland, Nhem Valy, said at the function that the works illustrate the close cooperation between the Front and the Vietnamese Ministry of Defence.
Lieutenant General Do Can, Vice Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, said that the Friendship Monument, which has also been built in other parts of Cambodia, has significant historical and cultural value. It is a symbol of the warm feelings, solidarity, bravery, and sacrifice of the people and armies of both countries.
The Monument is also a token of gratitude to the volunteer Vietnamese soldiers and those from the Cambodian Royal Army who laid down their lives in the cause of independence, freedom and the prosperity of both nations.
