Vietnamese AI expert named winner with breast cancer detecting solution
(VOVWORLD) - Competing with 2,200 artificial intelligence (AI) experts worldwide, Nguyen Hong Dang, an expert of Viettel Cyberspace Center - a member of Vietnam’s Viettel Group, won first prize at the contest "Detecting breast cancer through mammography screening".

The competition is organized by the Radiological Society of North America (RNSA) on the Kaggle platform.
The AI solution developed by Dang can automatically recognize signs of breast cancer from a very small area in a mammogram. This solution can be integrated into computer-aided diagnosis (CADx systems) to improve accuracy in diagnosis and treatment.
The competition drew nearly 1,700 teams from around the world. The eight teams that submitted the highest scoring algorithms receive total prize money of 50,000 USD.
