Vietnamese, Brazilian Foreign Ministers holds talks

(VOVworld)- Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira began an official visit to Vietnam on Sunday at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

During talks in Hanoi on Monday, Minister Minh said Vietnam wanted to boost friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Brazil. Minh said Vietnamese leaders welcomed President Dilma Rousseff who will pay an official visit to Vietnam later this year considering it an important event that will create incentives for further bilateral ties.

Minister Mauro Luiz Vieira confirmed Brazil’s support for Vietnam’s candidacy to the UN Security Council's Non-Permanent Membership in the 2020-2021 term and the UNESCO Executive Council in the 2015-2019 term. He proposed the two sides utilize a number of technical solutions to facilitate Brazil in recognizing a market economy status for Vietnam. The two sides praised their close cooperation at international organizations and forums including the UN. They affirmed their support for the settlement of sovereignty disputes through dialogues and peaceful means with respect to international law including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
