Vietnamese in Japan hold requiem for tsunami victims
(VOVworld) – As many as 100 Japanese and Vietnamese people attended a requiem at in Tokyo yesterday, commemorating the victims of Japan’s powerful earthquake and tsunami a year ago. Superior monk Yoshimizu Daiichi, who presides over the pagoda, said Japan has received consolation and financial support from many countries including Vietnam. After an incense offering, Buddhist dignitaries and followers took a minute of silence in memory of the victims. Nguyen Thi Minh Thu attended the ceremony and said 'I would like to call on Vietnamese people around the globe to join hands to help Japanese in distress overcome this difficult time'.
Tokyo’s Nisshin Kutsu pagoda is considered a Vietnamese place of worship. It sheltered many Vietnamese people who fled quake – ravaged areas last year.
