(VOVworld) – The 2nd National Congress of Lawyers will take place this weekend in Hanoi to review the work of the Vietnam Bar Federation in its first term and set out its tasks for the second term. At the congress, themed “Solidarity, Discipline, Wisdom, Justice Protection”, participants will elect the federation’s key leaders for the coming term.

The Vietnam Bar Federation is in charge of protecting lawyers’ rights and improving lawyers’ status. It has proposed legal solutions to defend Vietnam’s sovereignty in the East Sea and released statements protesting at China’s violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty, sovereign rights, and jurisdiction rights in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.
