Vietnamese weightlifter promoted to 2012 Olympic bronze medal
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese weightlifter Tran Le Quoc Toan has been promoted to the men’s 56kg bronze medal after Azerbaijan’s Valentin Hristov was stripped of his third-place finish for doping.

According to the Olympic website, following a virtual meeting on Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to remove medals from some 2012 Olympic cyclists and weightlifters.
In the men’s 56kg finals, Tran Le Quoc Toan produced a total lift of 284kg, finishing in fourth place overall with 2kg less than that of Valentin Hristov who tested positive for oral turinabol, a banned substance, during a reanalysis of samples from the London Olympics.
