The items were carved in wood and painted with red lacquer trimmed with gold during the Le and Nguyen dynasties from the 17th to the early 20^th century. The exhibit also includes photos and videos showing how such artifacts were made. Nguyen Bang Giang, Secretary of the Thang Long-Hanoi Antiques Association, said: “The collection is diverse, ranging from Buddha statues, parallel sentences to horizontal lacquer boards and palanquins. There has been a growing interest in wood lacquer ware. Collecting wood artifacts and altar decorations in red lacquer trimmed with gold is a hot trend right now”.
