(VOVWORLD) - The strategic partnership between New Zealand and Vietnam has yielded encouraging results including a 59% increase in two-way trade over the past 5 years, according to New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.

Addressing the Vietnam-New Zealand Business Dialogue in Hanoi on Tuesday, PM Ardern said the two sides believe that bilateral trade will hit 2.4 billion USD by 2024, adding the two economies are reciprocal with products like milk, wood and food.
She noted that Vietnam is a dynamic developing economy and both countries share an interest in a stable and prosperous India-Pacific region which respects international rules and law.
Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that trade and investment remain an important, priority between Vietnam and New Zealand which has yet to be fully tapped.
“New Zealand businesses are encouraged to invest in Vietnam in such areas as digital transformation, new and renewable energy, and high-tech agriculture," said Minister Dien.
"Other fields in high demand are safe food supply chains, post-harvest preservation technology, and the processing of agricultural and aquatic products,” he added.
