During talks in Hanoi on Tuesday, President Tran Dai Quang and visiting Polish President Andrzej Duda saw eye to eye on the need to increase the exchange of visits, consultation on issues of shared interest, and mutual support at regional and global forums.

President Quang welcomed the opening of an office of Poland’s investment and trade agency and encouraged Polish businesses to invest in Vietnam, particularly in mining, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and environmental protection.

The leaders underlined the importance of maintaining peace and security and resolving disputes by peaceful means, including respect for diplomatic and legal processes in line with international law.

President Quang told a press conference after the talks: “We had a very successful discussion. With 67 years of fruitful relations and efforts from both sides, I firmly believe that traditional cooperation between Vietnam and Poland will continue to flourish”.     

During a reception for President Duda, who is on a state visit to Vietnam from Monday to Thursday, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong lauded Poland's role in Europe and its assistance for Vietnam. He urged further cooperation in mining, the environment, agriculture, and food processing.

Meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President Duda called for a direct air link between the two countries to promote trade and tourism. Prime Minister Phuc asked Poland to push for the early signing and ratification of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and support the Vietnamese community in the country.
