Vietnam’s digital economy to thrive in Year of Dragon

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam continues to lead the region in digital economic growth, with e-commerce, the digital tourism economy, and online payments in 2023 rising 11%, 82%, and 20% respectively compared to the previous year.

This success is attributed to efforts to promote the digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

Nguyen Hoa Cuong, Deputy Director of the Central Economic Management Research Institute, said that the digital economy will continue to play a significant role in Vietnam's economy, especially in 2024.

This year, the Government aims to develop the digital economy with four main pillars: information technology, digitalization of economic sectors, digital governance, and digital data.

The goal for the digital economy to contribute 20% to GDP by 2025 is feasible due to favorable factors such as macroeconomic stability, extensive government efforts to develop the digital economy, dynamic businesses, a young workforce and a large labor market.

Additionally, the Government has set specific targets and roadmaps for developing a digital government, digital economy, and digital society.
