On Monday and Tuesday Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha led a Vietnamese delegation to attend a CRC dialogue in Geneva on Vietnam’s implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The dialogue was held within the framework of the CRC’s 91st session and was based on Vietnam’s fifth and sixth periodic country reports and a response to the committee’s related questions.
The Committee praised Vietnam’s thorough preparations for the dialogue, its achievements in building laws and policies, and the measures it has taken to promote children’s rights.
On November 20, 1989, the UN General Assembly adopted the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. Vietnam is one of the first countries in the world to sign and ratify this convention in 1990.
