Vietnam’s guest workers total 140,000 in 2018
(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam sent more than 140,000 people to work overseas this year, 27% higher than planned, according to the Overseas Worker Management Department.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the number of Vietnamese guest workers has exceeded the 100,000 mark. Japan topped the list of countries hiring Vietnamese guest workers, followed by Taiwan (China) and the Republic of Korea. The other labor markets receiving large numbers of Vietnamese workers include Saudi Arabia, Romania, Malaysia and Kuwait.
Tran Thi Van Ha of the Overseas Worker Management Department under the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs said:“The figure of 140,000 guest workers is a success in the context of difficult domestic labor market. Vietnamese can work overseas with higher salary and then return home with accumulated capital. The quality of human resources has been improved in 2018.”
