(VOVworld) – Vinh Thinh bridge, which spans the Red river and connects Vinh Phuc province with Hanoi, was opened to traffic on Sunday. The 5,487m bridge is the longest bridge in Vietnam. It was built at a cost of 137 million USD worth of ODA from the Republic of Korea and Vietnam’s reciprocal fund.
In his address, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that Vinh Thinh bridge plays an important role in national industrialization and modernization, socio-economic development, national defense, security, transport, and improving people’s lives in Hanoi, Vinh Phuc and northwestern provinces. He said: “I ask the transport sector and the authorities of Hanoi and Vinh Phuc as well as localities nationwide to build and put into use construction works of high quality to improve socio-economic infrastructure. This is part of the targets set by the 11th National Party Congress to boost national industrialization and modernization to turn Vietnam into an industrialized nation in the future.”
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung thanked the Korean government and people for their preferential ODA and pledged effective and strict management of ODA capital.
