The ceremony in Laos was attended by President of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane and two Deputy Prime Ministers.

Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung recalled the historic milestone on September 2, 1945, when President HCM read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Over the last 78 years, Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam has united to surmount numerous challenges to safeguard national independence, freedom, and territorial integrity and embark on the renewal process, he said.

“From a poor country devastated by war, Vietnam has become a developing country with middle income. People’s living standards have constantly improved and the country’s status and credibility have been taken up a notch or two,” Ambassador Hung noted.

At a reception hosted by Vietnam's Consulate General in Fukuoka to mark National Day, 300 Vietnamese and Japanese guests were treated to Vietnamese art performances and cuisine.
