Concerning the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s hydrogen bomb test, Le Hai Binh said: “Vietnam consistently supports denuclearization on the Korean peninsula, the prohibition of comprehensive nuclear test, and nuclear non-proliferation toward eliminating nuclear weapons. Vietnam is deeply concerned about the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s hydrogen bomb test on January 6, 2016, which violated related resolutions of the UN Security Council, increased tensions, and threatened peace and stability in the region. Vietnam calls on involved parties to take practical actions to promote peace and stability on the Korean peninsula”.
In regard to an attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran on January 3, the spokesperson for Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry said: “We reiterated the need to ensure safety of officials at diplomatic corps, consulates and headquarters of those agencies in line with the Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Convention on Consular Relations. The Foreign Ministry has asked representative agencies in related countries to closely follow the situations and work closely with local security agencies to ensure security and safety for their staff, offices and Vietnamese people living in those countries”.
