Vietnam's seafood exports earn 1.7 billion USD in 5 months

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam’s seafood exports totaled 1.7 billion USD in the first 5 months of the year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

Seafood accounted for 35% of the country's total aquatic export value. Tuna grew 59%, the highest level, earning more than 462 million USD; crabs, other crustaceans and squid and octopus increased by 47% and 28% respectively.

According to exporters, the global consumption of seafood is rising and Vietnamese goods are becoming more competitive.

Besides China, the US, Japan and France are main markets for Vietnam's crab products, accounting for more than 91% of total export value. Crab exports to the US are increasing as the country has fully reopened. France is Vietnam's largest import market in the EU.
