Minister Dung said the CPI increased 3.52% over the past 8 months while foreign investor trust in the Vietnamese economy was consolidated.

Cabinet members also answered media queries about public concerns such as the plan to build an underground metro station near Hoan Kiem Lake in the Old Quarter, a plan which could disrupt the urban scenery and the historical relic.

Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said the plan is still open for professional feedback.

“The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism should give opinions on the management of historical relics. Based on environmental impact assessments, Hanoi should take steps to ensure that the station will conform to all regulations on relic preservation,” said Dong.

Minister Dung said Hanoi authorities have proposed to bring Formula One racing to the My Dinh sports complex to take advantage of the existing infrastructure there.

He noted that people in Hanoi generally like the proposal because it will attract more tourists and promote the land and people of Vietnam to foreign visitors.
