Vietnam’s trade surplus hits 1.4 billion USD in January

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam’s import and export activities in January were quite impressive, with a turnover of more than 60 billion USD and a trade surplus of nearly 1.4 billion USD, according to the General Department of Customs.

The export of goods reached nearly 31 billion USD, up more than 8% over the same period last year.

Seven groups of exported goods had a turnover of 1 billion USD or more each in the first month of the year. They included textiles and garments, wood and wood products, means of transport and spare parts, seafood, coffee, pepper, and rice.

Import turnover in January reached 29.4 billion USD, up more than 11% over the same period last year. Most imported goods were computers, electronic products and components.

Vietnamese goods were exported mostly to the Chinese market with a value of 400 million USD, followed by the US, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, and Japan.
