The World Economic Forum on ASEAN 2018 (WEF ASEAN 2018) will take place in Hanoi from September 11-13.

ASEAN leaders and businesses will discuss policies and the orientation for important regional issues. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son told a press briefing in Hanoi on Wednesday: “The world and ASEAN are facing opportunities and challenges from the 4^th industrial revolution. Nations will identify their visions and specific steps for international integration in a par with the 4^th industrial revolution. Nations will seek the best growth models and new momentum in the digital era.” 

Borge Brende, Chairman of the World Economic Forum, spoke about cooperation between the WEF and Vietnam. He said it’s a very interesting topic and Vietnamese partners are professional and effective. Political and business interest in Vietnam is high, which makes the job easier. He understands ASEAN and Vietnam better. As emerging economies, ASEAN and Vietnam can implement technology quite fast for its people’s interest.

Vietnam-WEF cooperation began in 1989 and has expanded since the signing of an agreement on “Developing a Self-Reliant Vietnamese Economy” in 2017, focusing on economics and socialization, cross border trade and investment, infrastructure, production, agriculture, food security, education, and gender equality.
