Mr. Hue said the contest raised awareness among the public and local authorities of poverty reduction policies and programmes and motivated the poor to help themselves: “Journalists should continue to reflect social policies in their work. They not only communicate Party and State policies and guidelines but also help improve people’s lives”.

24 prizes were awarded in five categories - print media, online newspaper, radio, television, and photo reportage. The only first prize was presented to a group of journalists from the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) for a radio programme on poverty reduction policies.

Launched in January, the contest received 300 entries.
