France extinguished Morocco's dream run in Qatar when, in the 5th minute of the match, left-back Theo Hernandez scored a goal past Morocco’s star goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, and at the 71st minute, out of a mess in front of the Morocco goal, striker Randal Kolo Muani scored a second goal for France. Despite coming up short, Morocco had already made history by becoming the first African team to reach the semi-finals of a World Cup.

In their semi-final match at Lusail Stadium, the Argentine team had little difficulty dispatching Croatia 3-nil. Superstar Lionel Messi scored one goal and 22-year-old talent Julian Álvarez added two more.

Morocco will play Croatia for third place on Saturday. On Sunday will be the 2022 World Cup final between France and Argentina at Lusail Stadium in Doha. This will be a classic matchup of the two schools of football in South America and Europe. All eyes will be on former Paris-Saint Germain team-mates Messi and Mbappe, who are both leading contenders for the Golden Boot with five goals apiece.

Four years ago, at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the French team defeated Argentina 4-3 in the Round of 16. All the players who scored goals in that match will meet again on Sunday.
