World leaders offer condolences to Japan after former PM Abe's death

(VOVWORLD) -Foreign leaders on Friday sent their condolences to the family of former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo after his death due to an attack earlier on the same day.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent condolences to the family of former Prime Minister Abe, calling his death an irreparable loss. Mr. Putin described Mr. Abe as "an outstanding statesman who had  led the Japanese government for a long time and made great contributions to the development of good neighborly relations between the two countries". In a statement issued by the Russian Embassy in Japan, Ambassador Mikhail Galuzin strongly condemned the attack on former Prime Minister Abe.

The leaders of Australia, Poland, Germany, Italy, France, the Director General of the  International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen  sent condolences to the family of former Prime Minister Abe and Japan.
