(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam has weathered the storm of the COVID-19 pandemic which has cast a shadow on the global economy, according to world media.
Japan’s Nikkei Asia Review said Vietnam’s production is strongly resilient and quickly recovering. The adoption of free trade agreements, notably the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), is vital to Vietnam’s thriving economy, it said.
India’s Financial Express cited a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit saying Vietnam is emerging as a low-cost manufacturing hub in Asian supply chains, outpacing India and China on foreign direct investment (FDI) policy, foreign trade, and exchange controls.
Malaysia’s The Star reported that Vietnam signed several rice export contracts in early 2021 with its European partners and RCEP member countries.
The Jakarta Post from Indonesia praised the rise of e-commerce in Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic. Although transactions in cash still prevailed, the number of mobile payments increased 10 times from 2019, official data showed.
