(VOVWORLD) - Two UNESCO-recognized intangible heritages of the northern province of Phu Tho are being introduced in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.
 Items relating to the worship of the Hung Kings are introduced to Dak Lak province as part of efforts to preserve and promote Vietnam's cultural heritages. |
On display are dozens of photos and items featuring worship of the Hung Kings which was added to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012.
There will also be performances of Xoan singing which was inscribed to the list in 2017.
“We want to raise public awareness of these cultural heritages and educate the younger generation about Vietnam’s traditions. The event also honors our own commitment to preserving our cultural heritages,” Ngo Duc Quy is Director of the Hung Kings Musem in Phu Tho, the co-organizer of the event.
Annually, millions of people converge on the Hung Temple in Phu Tho province to commemorate the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the Vietnamese nation. The people pray for good weather, abundant harvests, good luck, and good health.
As a performing art, Xoan singing is closely linked to the worship of the Hung Kings and includes singing, dancing, drumming and clapper beating. It fosters cultural understanding, community cohesion and mutual respect.
