They were divided into smaller groups, went along the seashore and collected the waste. Nguyen Ngoc Mai, a student from the National Economics University, Hanoi said this activity makes the young more aware of the threat of the waste: “I do this to make beach cleaner and to protect the environment. More and more marine species are in danger of extinction. We need to take action to protect them”.
Ngo Hoang Linh from Belarus said the nature and beaches here are beautiful, however, there is too much garbage discharged by the locals and tourists. She said more dust bins should be placed along the seashore to keep the surroundings clean.
Tran Phuong Anh, an overseas Vietnamese from Ukraine, said: “Vietnam has long and beautiful beaches. But there is too much waste. I join this activity to keep the environment cleaner”.
More than 1 kilometer of My Khe beach was cleaned up by young Vietnamese expats on Saturday morning.
