Most of the cases were foreign workers from a construction site. They have recovered, but doctors said there were many Singaporean women asking for medical check-ups in light of the issue.
The first case in Singapore was a 47-year-old Malaysian woman detected on Saturday in the Aljunied area. According to the NEA, she did not travel to affected areas in other parts of the world, which means she may have been infected by the Zika virus in Singapore. On Sunday, Singapore confirmed 40 more cases of Zika infections in its territory including 36 foreign workers in Aljunied.
