(VOVWORLD) - The 2019 Month for Humanitarian Activities was launched in Da Nang City on Friday to mark the 156th anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day on May 8.

Addressing the launch ceremony, Le Trung Chinh, Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, praised the active response and participation of members, youths, adolescents, and volunteers in humanitarian activities.
Chinh called on the city’s Red Cross Society to further boost charitable programs, highlight humanitarian values and mobilize people from all walks of life to join the organization’s humanitarian movements.
Nearly 95,000 USD was donated at the function to Da Nang’s Red Cross Society.
On the occasion, the society launched a movement called “Each organization, each individual links to a humanitarian address” through 2023 under which 5,000 people will be funded each year worth 430,000 USD.
