(VOVworld) – A celebration to mark 33rd World Food Day was held in Hanoi on Friday with the participation of leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguyen Thi Xuan Thu, says: “On the occasion of 33rd World Food Day, I call on the local authorities, sectors, and society as a whole to work together to develop the rural economy, reduce poverty, ensure food security, and successfully develop new rural areas to develop Vietnam to the status of an industrialized nation by 2020.”
Ms. Thu also expressed her hope that FAO would continue to assist Vietnam in poverty reduction and the new rural areas building program.
