(VOVworld) – Most participants at a seminar to contribute opinions to a new media law have agreed on the need that its development should overcome shortcomings, ensure transparency, and comply with the 2013 Constitution.

The meeting, which was held by the Ministry of Information and Communication in Hanoi on Thursday, aims to improve the quality of media operations and state management in the field. It’s intended to submit ideas to the government for approval in October.

VOV’s Deputy Director General Vu Hai touched upon regulations for a governing body which, in the new legal document, should be made by the government to secure the longevity of the law.

Hai also made contributions to the media law: “currently media with diverse forms has developed strongly in the world and Vietnam in particular.  Therefore we should have a new law or a revision to the available document. The 2016 media law should clarify the 2013 Constitution to improve press management and facilitate more favorable conditions for journalists and media agencies to perform to their maximum capacity. ”

Delegates noted that the new law should be clearer on conditions for media trading and cooperative programs among radio and television stations within the private sector.
