On this occasion, an art program involving the participation of AO victims was held to raise public awareness of the consequences of toxic chemicals that the American troops used during the war in Vietnam and mobilize international support for overcoming the consequences of Agent Orange/Dioxin.

Addressing the event, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, said that over the years, the Party and State have promulgated many guidelines and policies to deal with AO/dioxin consequences and have spent millions of dollars to subsidize health care and rehabilitation for victims and affected areas.

These efforts have eased the difficulties and pain of victims and helped them stabilize their lives and integrate into the community.

Hoai called on soldiers, people at home and abroad, and international organizations to take practical actions in response to the Action Month for Agent Orange/dioxin victims to give the victims a better life.

“I hope organizations and individuals in Vietnam and around the world will continue to join efforts to promote peace and justice, alleviate the pain of Agent Orange, and prevent any more chemical warfare,” said Hoai.

The Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/ Dioxin and the National Humanitarian Portal (Portal 1400) jointly launched a text message campaign to support AO/Dioxin victims.
