APF Committee for Parliamentary Issues convenes
(VOVworld)- The National Assembly’s External Relations Committee and the Vietnamese Division of the Francophone Parliamentary Alliance have held a meeting of the APF Committee for Parliamentary Issues. Addressing the event in Hanoi on Sunday, National Assembly’s Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu said the Vietnamese National Assembly is actively reforming its activities to make them more effective and practical on the spirit of democracy and legitimacy.

In regard to external relations, the Vietnamese legislative body aims to strengthen bilateral and multilateral activities and be an active member of regional and global Parliamentary organizations including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Francophone Parliamentary Alliance, and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly. Mr. Luu said:“The Vietnamese National Assembly greatly appreciated the motto and objectives of the APF. With several practical activities, APF has contributed to the mechanisms of the Francophone community, initiated and implemented programs to boost inter-parliamentary cooperation, and strengthen friendship and solidarity between parliaments. As the Vice Chair of the APF, Vietnam has actively participated in the organization’s activities in a hope to strengthen friendship, cultural exchanges and cooperation with other APF members”.
At the meeting, Mr. Luu said the Vietnamese National Assembly will host the 132nd IPU General Assembly in March, 2015. He expressed his hope that this meeting would not only contribute to boosting APF development but also to enhancing relationship between countries.
