August Revolution: Strength of people's support and solidarity
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam on Thursday (August 19) marked the 76th anniversary of its August Revolution, the great victory that ushered in a new era. The establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 was a historic moment, the moment the Vietnamese people regained the power to decide their own destiny.

The victory demonstrated the extraordinarily vital role of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, who mapped the path to national independence, mobilized the strength of the people, and carried out an effective strategy for sustainable victory.
On Thursday, the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper ran an article on its front page praising the eternal flame of the revolutionary spirit. Since the success of the August Revolution 76 years ago, Vietnam has gone through vicissitudes, gained enormous achievements, and lifted itself to new heights, said the article. The undaunted spirit of our ancestors back through time has inspired our courage to persist in our path and defend our independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The Vietnamese people are resolved to pursue a comprehensive reform initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Voice of Vietnam’s online newspaper at vov.vn said the courage and solidarity of the August Revolution has resonated down through history and today this spirit, once again, is being shown in our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Acts of unity, love, caring, and sharing are everywhere. The entire political system, from central to grassroots level, is focused on defeating COVID-19 and putting everything back on track.
