Campaign launched to eliminate violence against women and girls
(VOVworld) – A campaign was launched in Hanoi on Sunday in response to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. In his address, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Nguyen Thien Nhan praised the efforts of organizations and individuals in preventing domestic violence in recent years. He said, however, that the prevention of domestic violence has remained ineffective. He called on improved awareness of gender equality, considering it the responsibility of the entire society: “I urge the Vietnam Fatherland Front to coordinate with the Vietnam Women’s Union to improve the awareness of their members about preventing domestic violence and building happy families. We believe that with the efforts by the government and localities, the prevention of violence against women and girls will obtain positive results.”
